In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old Nepali boy was viciously attacked while celebrating his birthday in the western suburb of Melbourne. Rhyan Singh and his two friends were unexpectedly assaulted by a gang armed with machetes last Thursday evening, just before Rhyan was supposed to join his family for a festive dinner.

A group of approximately seven to eight young men targeted the trio, demanding their mobile phones. Additionally, they forced Rhyan to surrender his recently acquired Nike Air Jordan sneakers, which he had received as a birthday gift. The situation took a horrifying turn as Rhyan, a tenth-grade student and an aspiring cricketer, sustained multiple stab wounds on his ribs, arms, hand, and back. He was also struck in the back of his head during the attack. Regrettably, one of Rhyan’s companions was also injured from stabbing, as confirmed by the Victoria Police.

The attack has left Rhyan’s parents in a state of devastation. Rhyan’s mother, Sushma Manandhar, expressed her sorrow, stating, “(It’s) unjust… we had plans for his birthday.” Rhyan’s father, Rajiv, emphasized the importance of the community speaking out against such cowardly acts and urged everyone to prioritize the safety of teenagers.
